Alvira "Allie" Packingham Sullivan Earp born in Florence, Nebraska Territory in 1849. Her father left for the Civil War in May of 1861. Shortly thereafter her mother died which led to the break up of the family. The children were divided up amongst the early Omaha settlers.
While waiting tables in the early 1870's she met Virgil Earp. Virgil was a stage driver and would call on Allie every time he was in town. After several visits, the young couple were married. She finally met the Earp family in Lamar, Missouri in 1876. There they set off by wagon train stopping in Dodge City, where Allie met Wyatt Earp. After the winter they continued west by wagon train finally reaching Prescott, Arizona Territory.
In 1879 Virgil and Allie moved to Tombstone. It is not clear how much Allie knew of the events leading up to the Gunfight at the OK Corral. It is clear however that she supported Virgil's career as a lawman. Allie lived to be 98 years old and died in Los Angeles, California in 1947.
