Morgan Seth Earp was born April 24, 1851 in Pella, Marion County, Iowa. Showing a dislike for farming he and his brother Wyatt would share in wishful adventures. In 1875 he set out for Wichita, Kansas to become Deputy Sheriff. In 1877 he and his common law wife Louisa moved to Houston, Montana where they lived until March 1880. In September of 1881 Morgan moved to Tombstone, Arizona where he would be deputized by brother Virgil.
Two months after the Gunfight at the OK Corral on October 26, 1881, Morgan's brother Virgil was seriouly wounded. By 1882 Morgan, having seen enough violence, decided to send his wife to California out of harm's way while he continued to enforce the law. While playing pool on Saturday March 18, 1882 at approximately 10 pm, Morgan was fatally shot. Although never proven, and no one was ever charged, rumors swirled that the shooters were Clanton supporters.
