Born Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp March 19, 1848 in Monmouth, Illinois. In his early life the family moved several times, making stops in Iowa, California, Illinois, and Missouri. Between 1871 and 1874 his wherabouts are not clear, it is suggested he went buffalo hunting.

In 1875 Dodge City, Kansas became a cattle town and Wyatt was appointed Assistant Marshal. October, 1877 Wyatt left only to return a year later. It was during his travels that he met and became friends with the card playing Doc Holiday in Fort Griffith, Texas. In June of 1878 during a bar room brawl Doc Holiday would save Wyatt's life. In 1879 Wyatt and his brothers moved to Tombstone, Arizona

Wyatt Earp is best known for his participation in the "Gunfight at the OK Corral," which took place at Tombstone, Arizona on October 26, 1881. In this legendary Old West Encounter, Wyatt Earp, his Brothers Virgil and Morgan, and Doc Holiday faced off with Ike and Billy Clanton and Tom and Frank McLaury. The shootout and the bloody events that followed, combined with Wyatt Earp's penchant for story telling, resulted in Wyatt Earp acquiring the reputation as being one of the Old West's toughest and deadliest Gunmen of his day.
